During a rather violent storm, the top half of one of our sunflowers snapped in half. The broken stem hung upside down, dangling by a few strands of fiber. The leaves had gone limp. Another casualty of a brutal June storm, I thought and I left it for dead. I don’t know how many days I walked by it before I realized that it was not only NOT dead, but had turned 180 degrees and started growing straight up towards the sun again!
The sunflower’s comeback reminds me of Easter. Jesus most certainly had died, but only to gather the lost souls of the dead, from Adam to Joseph, and do a 180 back to earth and finally to heaven! Easter reminds me that there’s always hope. Easter reminds me to never give up, either on others or myself. Easter reminds me that when it seems like I’ve come to a dead end, I always have Jesus. And with Him nothing is impossible, nothing impassable, nothing insurmountable.
May the joy of Easter restore us all to the glory for which we were made.
